EX-CONVICT NDC MAN PROMISES BLOODBATH

Another member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team and an ex-convict, Stephen Atubiga, says there is going to be serious bloodbath in the country, if elements in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) attempt to do anything untoward on the life of President John Mahama.

“We are saying that if they (NPP) joke and something happens to the president and it emerges that the president did not die of natural causes but rather died as a result of any physical attacks through stoning or by means of a bomb blast engineered by the NPP, trust me, we will drink from the cup of blood and bath with blood,” Atubiga told Angel TV recently.

He was reacting to news that President Mahama’s convoy was pelted with stones by some people when he (president) took his ‘Accounting to the people’ tour to the Ashanti Region. Atubiga claimed it was the NPP that organized the ‘stoning’ of the presidential convoy.

However, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Alexander Ackon, came out publicly to say that no such incident occurred when the president toured the region.

2013 Contempt
It was this same Atubiga who was jailed three days for contempt by the Supreme Court in 2013 during the hearing of the landmark Presidential Election Petition which challenged the validity of declaring Mahama president by the Electoral Commission (EC) in the keenly contested 2012 general election.

He had said that should the court declare the petitioners, led by NPP leader Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, winner of the 2012 presidential election, the NDC was not going to accept the verdict and promised that there was going to be chaos if that ever happened.

During the contempt proceedings, Atubiga promised never to make inflammatory statements and Justice William Atuguba, then presiding over the nine-member panel, even remarked humorously that Atubiga looked like someone who could burn down a market.

As a result of the ‘remorse’ Atubiga showed, the court sentenced him to three days and he was reportedly kept at the Akuse Prisons in the Eastern Region.

He appears not to have learnt his lessons and has been captured by Angel TV making what sounds like even more serious inflammatory statement, claiming boldly that coffins would become hot cakes if the NPP dared the president and his NDC.

High Demand For Coffins
“Demands for coffins would be so high. As a matter of fact, it will be serious bloodbath,” he boasted, adding, “It is going to be Afghanistan; it is going to be Iraq; it is going to be like Syria; they should try and hurt the president and see what will happen in this country,” the NDC man threatened.

He said, “I am saying that HE President John Dramani is a Ghanaian and the sitting president. He has brought a lot of developmental projects to Asanteman.

I attended school in Asanteman and the president has come back to Asanteman and Kumasiman to account to the people. You voted for him and he has also delivered. The NPP organized people to pelt the president and his entourage with stones.”
