A man in his early thirties, suspected to be an armed robber was found lynched at Asylum Down, a suburb of Accra in the early hours of yesterday.

The male body was riddled with deep wounds and cuts and it appeared the attackers used sharp objects such as cutlasses; however there was nothing to show he had a swollen body.

As at 8:30am yesterday the lifeless body lay in a gutter at the intersection leading to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) headquarters with a piece of clothe covering his manhood.

A sizeable number of people were gathered, curiously reflecting what might have gone wrong when Daily Guide got to the scene.

The paper’s investigations revealed the victim lay unconscious for about two hours before giving up the ghost and was said to have claimed that he works at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra but could not give out his name or a relative to be traced.
Sources say he writhed in pain for sometime before managing to drag his own body into the gutter.

Amazingly, a team of policemen were said to have arrived at the scene earlier on but did not carry the body away.

Once again, the issue of instant or mob justice has come to the fore. It is fast rearing its ugly head in the country as the trend of some sections of the public taking the law into their own hands continue to rise.
